Is Chesterfield sofa a sleeper?
A Chesterfield sofa is not typically a sleeper sofa, also known as a sofa bed or pull-out sofa. A traditional Chesterfield sofa is designed primarily for seating and does not include a hidden bed mechanism for sleeping purposes.
However, there are some variations and modern adaptations of Chesterfield-style sofas that may include sleeper sofa functionality. These hybrid designs combine the classic Chesterfield look with the practicality of a pull-out bed. If you’re interested in a Chesterfield-style sleeper sofa, you can explore Regency Shop that offers such customized or modified designs.
Keep in mind that adding a sleeper mechanism to a Chesterfield-style sofa may affect its appearance and comfort to some extent, so it’s essential to carefully consider your priorities and requirements when choosing between a traditional Chesterfield sofa and a sleeper sofa version.
Is Chesterfield sofa considered modern or traditional design?
The Chesterfield sofa is considered a traditional design. It has a rich history dating back to the 18th century and is known for its classic and timeless characteristics. Some key features of a Chesterfield sofa that contribute to its traditional design include:
Button-Tufted Back: The deep button-tufting on the backrest is a hallmark of traditional craftsmanship.
Rolled Arms: Chesterfield sofas typically have rolled or scrolled arms, which are a classic design element.
Quilted or Tufted Leather: Traditionally, Chesterfield sofas were upholstered in leather, often with a quilted or tufted pattern.
Wooden Legs: Many traditional Chesterfield sofas have wooden legs, often with decorative details.
Elegance and Sophistication: Chesterfield sofas are associated with elegance and sophistication, which are common attributes of traditional design.
While the Chesterfield sofa has a traditional foundation, it has also seen adaptations and interpretations that incorporate it into modern interior design. Designers have played with materials, colors, and proportions to create Chesterfield-inspired pieces that fit into contemporary spaces. So, while the classic Chesterfield sofa is undeniably traditional, you can find variations and modernized versions that blend traditional elements with a more contemporary aesthetic.

What is the Bauhaus design Philosophy?
Bauhaus majorly taught artists, designers and craftsmen a new way of viewing and creating art that emphasized color theory, materials and balance. Students took a preliminary course covering these things before moving onto more specialized courses in things like textile designs, cabinet making and typography. Even the Bauhaus canteen was indicative of the movement’s beautiful yet functional design style. The school emphasized efficient design that embodied the function of the object itself and its materials. It sought to unify art with craft, to bridge the gap between beauty and function with objects and spaces that were purposeful without abandoning physical appearance. The Bauhaus’s core values popped up severally throughout the twentieth century. Its foundational ideas influenced movements in the decades that followed. But that doesn’t mean the school was loved by all. Many Germans saw it as a rebellion against traditional German culture. A few furniture from this design era are; wassily chair, brno chair, and mt8 lamp.
What is the Mid-Century design Philosophy?
Mid-century design refers to the dominant furnishings of the mid-20th century—simple, functional wooden pieces made from teak and curved designs became very popular. “Midcentury modern design evolved in response to a post-World War II environment,” Liza Kuhn explains. “Designers and architects were eager to create new ideas that married the mass production and technology invented during the first half of the 20th century with a more optimistic outlook for the future”. Many authentic midcentury modern furniture were made from teak. “Teak was preferred for its richness in color and durability,” Rozit Arditi explains. “Rosewood and oak were the other commonly used woods, mostly in case pieces like tables, desks, and storage cabinets”. But wood was by no means the only material present in the creation of midcentury modern pieces. “Materials were critical to mid-century design,” Thompson notes. “We saw a lot of wood, metal, glass, and vinyl, often used in tension with each other to create a unique look.” These materials were often used to create furnishings with curved shapes. A few furniture pieces from this era are; Noguchi coffee table, Eames lounge chair and ottoman, and arco floor lamp.
What is the Hollywood regency design Philosophy?
The Hollywood regency design is the style that birthed the glam era. It gave us sumptuous, rich texture, lavish details, and luxurious accents. It yearned to make any space feel as opulent as possible. “Hollywood Regency is all about communicating lavish glamour in a way that isn’t stuffy or too self-serious,” Murray says. “With this style bent towards unapologetic maximalism, Hollywood Regency features richly layered textures, high contrast patterns, metallic finishes, and bold colors”. You won’t find a lack of color or pattern in Hollywood Regency, but both are definitely used deliberately. The patterns and colors used are so bold; you don’t want to go over the top. Hollywood regency Decor is usually kept in the same color palette, and only one or two patterns are used, so it doesn’t feel too busy. Black and white is a usual combination, and jewel tones are incorporated for pops of color. Hollywood Regency leaned heavily on the decor accents to bring the glam. Luxurious fabric and textiles are incorporated, like velvet, silk, and even fur. You’ll also find sculpted carpets, brass or gold objects, crystal, fringe, and plenty of flashy accessories. A few furniture pieces from this era are; nesting tables, slipper chairs, curved sofas and animals statues.
10 fascinating things about Bauhaus, Mid-century and Hollywood Regency Furniture!
The Bauhaus was founded in Germany; as a design school, by architect Walter Gropius to teach a wide variety of trades, from cabinet making and furniture design, to weaving, metalwork, and painting. The design favored simplified forms, rationality, and functional use. This arts institute greatly differed from the favored, yet impractical, academic studio education that was standard at the time.
The goal of the Bauhaus was to create a relationship between craftsmanship and creativity. There was a perceived fear that art was losing its purpose in society. Hence, the Bauhaus was founded to ‘build’ a relationship between manufacturing and creativity as they had been drifting apart at the time.
The Bauhaus movement was responsible for the creation of San Serif and Bauhaus fonts. Among the many genres of fine and decorative art, the Bauhaus focused on typography too. Graphic designer Herbert Bayer opined that typeface was the clearest form of communication and artistic expression.
The Bauhaus era included several influential artists. Some of the greatest modern artists and designers of the 20th century studied or taught at the Bauhaus, like: Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Mies Van Der Rohe, László Moholy-Nagy, Marcel Breuer, and Marianne Brandt.
Mid-century modern furniture is often very simple with sleek lines and a focus on functionality and simple spaces. Chairs and tables created, often consisted of simple pieces of material held up by wooden or metal pin-style legs.
Manmade materials (like vinyl, plastic, lucite, and fiberglass) and natural materials (like wood, glass, metal, and marble) were often used together in mid-century furniture design. You also see modern pieces staged with vintage statement pieces in mid-century modern design style.
Mid-century modern decor used bright accent colors against primary neutral tones of white, black, and wood tones. In keeping with the idea of combining indoor and outdoor, the mid-century color palette was rooted in nature, with earthy greens, bright fall oranges and yellows, muddy browns, sea blue-greens such as aquamarine and teal, and deep clay red.
The Hollywood Regency was about being glamorous and opulent. It was all about the lavish designs, rich textures, and similar accents to bring out the glam factor. The concept of the Hollywood Regency design is to reflect the vibrant colors and the rich patterns and textures to make the entire interior look highly glamorous in all possible ways.
The Hollywood era made use of so many bold colors, that you do not have the option of going over the top of it. Mainly the combination of black and white was most commonly used but there were also a number of other bold colors also used as pop-ups. Metallic color options such as brass were often taken as the staple option and there are only a few patterns that are commonly used. The palette of colors for the Hollywood Regency hence can be said to be huge for those who are more into designing modern day interior designs.
Hollywood regency did not focus much on furniture. Furniture pieces were kept as a much smaller scale. The idea was to provide much of floor space so that people can have an area for different activities.

History of mid-century modern era
While there is some debate over its exact year of origin, most can agree that this style dates back to the mid-1930s through to the mid-1960s. However, it wasn’t until 1983 that the label ‘Mid-Century Modern’ became a household phrase. Art historian and writer, Cara Greenberg; coined the term with the title of her book, ‘Mid-Century Modern: Furniture of the 1950s’. Fast forward over 60 years, Mid-Century Modern is now widely recognized as a term and significant design movement by the general public, museums, furniture enthusiasts and scholars. As for the style itself, Mid-Century Modern was highly influenced by Danish Modernism and the German school of design, in Bauhaus. With the changes that World War II brought to Germany, America suddenly found itself with immigrants that were both trained and practiced in this style of design. This combined with the baby boom and the urgent need for housing with modern furniture birthed a new era of technological advances and exploration of new material in furniture and interior design. Materials like molded plywood, plastic, glass, metal, and fiberglass were suddenly commonplace. Designers, such as Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, Herman Miller, Arne Jacobsen, and Eero Saarinen, soon found a good use to these newfound materials.

Upholstered in leather, the round seat and backrests, reminiscent of soft puffy marshmallows provide an amazing degree of comfort.

Well, many people are afraid of monochrome because they think it will be boring. But there are so many ways to create an eye catching and fun space with it! Minimalist living rooms are the rave of the moment. Gone are the days of dark, heavy furniture in cluttered spaces. Today’s minimalist design principles focus on light colors, clean lines, and simple decorating techniques that create a calming space for homeowners to relax after a long day’s work. In this blog post, we’ll show you 10 incredible minimalist furniture pieces to help inspire your next project! But first let’s dive into the concept of minimalism and where it came from?
What is minimalist living style?
Minimalism is a term that has been used in various fields, such as music and architecture. In relation to interior design, it was first coined by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, when describing his style of furnishing. The word minimalism can be translated from Latin, which means “the least amount possible”. Minimalist designs focus on the use of necessary elements to either create an entire space or simply one room within a larger home. Today there are countless ways for designers and homeowners alike to incorporate minimalist principles into their lives while maintaining personal preferences with regards to color scheme, styles, shapes and more [without compromising the overall aesthetic appeal or functionality of the given space]. With the word “minimalist” being thrown around a lot these days, it can be hard to get an idea of what this type of design means. In general, minimalism is basically about simplicity and functionality with no clutter or unnecessary elements that could distract from its main purpose. The biggest rule for minimalist living style is removing any element that does not have a functional use – so remove anything you don’t need. Minimalist living styles focus on using light colors, clean lines and open spaces to create a sense of calmness while still looking stylish and inviting. There are many ways to achieve these features depending on your space limitations, including painting all walls white, using only a few pieces of furniture and filling your space with natural light by removing any heavy curtains or blinds from the windows.
How to incorporate minimalism in your living room design?
Minimalism is trendy, so much that it could feel overwhelming. But the key to successful minimalistic design is focusing on your priorities and simplifying what already exists. You can make a room more minimalist by adding clever storage systems or removing furniture pieces that are hardly used, such as coffee tables and end tables that only take up space but add little functionality for everyday life in your living room with your kids. Today, many people find themselves attracted by the idea of living a more minimalist life. The way to achieve this is through design and decorating your home beautifully with minimalism in mind. Maintaining simplicity has many benefits for both the environment and your mental health, so these ideas that will help you live a very happy life.

5 things to keep in mind before buying outdoor furniture!
What better time to buy outdoor sofa or other furniture set, than spring time? The winter season fades; chilly winds and the frozen earth will soon be warmed up by the sun. This is the right time to think of the great outdoors. Patio, lawns, decks and gardens beckon. We have put together the points to keep in mind when you choose furniture for your outdoor space. You need to keep in mind the size of space you have, how much sunlight it gets for the day, whether you want to make the space child-friendly, if there is a swimming pool in your space, are you a weekend user. So before you bring out your check book, let’s explore 5 important things that you need to consider while shopping for outdoor furniture.
outdoor dining set
- The size of your space would determine the type of patio furniture you need.
Consider how much space you have and how the shape. Is it long and narrow, or a broad and wide? Much like when you’re furnishing a living or family room, use the area and shape of your outdoor space to determine the size of your outdoor furniture and the potential groupings it will take. Most importantly, make sure to leave enough space around your furniture to walk around easily. Just apply the same principles for traffic flow that you would use indoors. For a small space, a bar table set may work better than a regular dining set, because bar tables are narrower, and stools take up less room than dining chairs. You can also take a look at cafe or bistro tables and chairs, because they have a smaller profile. Before you head out to shop for furniture, make a quick sketch of the space, measure its dimensions, and jot them down on the drawing plan. Bring the drawing plan and a tape measure with you to the store. Unless you’re spatially gifted, it’s too easy to get the proportions wrong in your head and end up choosing furniture that’s too small or, too big for your space.
- Considering the weather would help you pick the right outdoor furniture
Is the weather hot and dry? Do you live near the coast? Does it rain often? Does the midday sun beat down on your outdoor space directly? These are all important questions to answer before selecting outdoor furniture because outdoor exposure is hard on all furniture, no matter the climatic condition. Hot, dry conditions can make wood splinter and crack, while frequent moisture can also promote rot. Strong winds could send aluminum furniture flying; iron won’t blow away but also won’t stand up to salty air. The sun is perhaps the worst element of all. It dulls and discolors paint, bleaches fabrics and wood, and generally degrades plastic and other synthetic stuff. To choose furniture that’ll last, be realistic about the material’s properties. Metal is largely unaffected by sunlight, while plastic and rubber are always vulnerable to UV damage, no matter what the manufacturer claims. This is very true at high elevations. Likewise, wood furniture may come with a quality, factory-applied, weather-resistant finish, but, eventually, that finish will wear and break down, and you’ll be faced with refinishing the wood or replacing the furniture completely. Then, think about how the furniture will look five, 10, and 20 years down the road.
- How much are you willing to spend on chairs, table and other outdoor furniture?
Your budget determines what you can buy. But it’s always wise to the buy the best furniture you can afford, since quality furniture offers more value than cheap products. If you’re economizing, there are some options to ensure you get the best quality for your money. You could shop for outdoor furniture around the end of July and August, as fall approaches. This is when it’s most likely to be discounted but is still available. You may not find any for sale in winter. Consider materials that are less expensive but still durable, such as aluminum or heavy-duty resin, or look for less-expensive wooden furniture. Check out yard sales or thrift stores, and buy the best quality they have. Outdoor furniture often doesn’t make the cut in the moving van, so it’s commonly sold as secondhand. Keep in mind that you can always paint or refinish used furniture, and you can easily dress it up with new cushions, pillows or tapestry.
- Pick dual purpose patio furniture
Look for multiple use furniture to make the most of your space and budget. Pieces that serve multiple purposes can eliminate the need to purchase additional furniture and leave more room for your outdoor activities. For example, an ottoman or garden stool can also double as extra seating for guests. A bench can stand alone or cozy up to an alfresco dining table. Choose patio furniture with function in mind to take full advantage of your frequently used outdoor spaces. To make your outdoor space more attractive and beautiful, you can look for the furniture that has multiple purposes. You can look for the doubles as extra seating for your next backyard bash and a simple bench that can also turn up into a dining table.
- Consider your comfort
You’ll be using your outdoor furniture to relax a lot, so make sure it’s comfortable. If chairs and lounges don’t come with cushions, you can always buy or make your own cushions and pillows for them. Be sure to choose or use good-quality outdoor fabric that’s fade-resistant and mildew-resistant. When buying cushions, keep in mind that the furniture itself will long outlast any upholstery, and you’ll likely be replacing the pillows one or more times over the span of your furniture. Upholstery and fabrics will stay looking their best if you keep them in storage, when you’re not using them. Keep them away after each use, if you can. But always store them out of the elements for the off-season. In addition to comfy chairs, pieces like chaise lounges, rockers, and recliners are also great furniture pieces for relaxing outdoors. Also make sure to try out your furniture before you buy it. For stretching out, you may also want to look at hammocks, hanging chairs and daybeds.

How to mix modern decor with traditional
Blending traditional and modern decor can be quite a challenge, since they’re on opposite ends of the design spectrum. For example, matching the Traditional Chesterfield sofa with a modern coffee table maybe a bit confusing, if you don’t know how to go about it. Not only are the lines and shapes present in modern and traditional spaces quite different—but the sheer amount of stuff in a traditional in contrast with modern space tends to be quite unusually opposite. While not always the case, modern spaces tend to have a more pared-back, minimalist bent, whereas traditional spaces lean more maximalist, with more going in appearance. One of the advantages of blending traditional and modern interior design styles is developing a personal style that you won’t see in other homes. Unfortunately, this interesting mixing of styles intimidates most people. It’s a big risk, but it is also a risk with a very high reward. Let’s discuss the basics of each interior design style so we can better understand how to mix the two for a more cohesive design.
Modern décor
When people talk about preferring a modern decor, they’re often referring to Mid-Century Modern. Not necessarily contemporary décor. This style is inspired by mid-20th century design and it combines natural wood with bold colors. Modern décor furniture pieces have clean lines and organic shapes with minimal ornament beyond the shape of the piece itself. It also tends to have tapered edges and rounded edges without hard angles. Colors in these spaces tend to be bold, with primary and secondary colors used a lot. Graphic or geometric patterns are also common in these spaces. Wood tones tend to be light [either a Scandinavian blonde finish or an acorn or teak coloring]. Though, a dark walnut finish wouldn’t be out place! When it comes to metal, chrome is the most common finish you’ll find in a mid-century space, though brass and black metal may be also used. For upholstery, leather, tweed, velvet, and vinyl are all common fabrics used on furniture. The popular modern décor designs of today feature heavy textures, ornamentation, and contrasting elements. One defining component of modern design is the minimalistic touch. Modern designs heavily rely on lack of fussiness. Clean lines, neutral colors, and boldly designed furniture… that’s what you see.
Traditional décor
Traditional decor often refers to older Americana styles of Colonial and Craftsman furnishings. But, as traditional décor ideas rise in popularity, designers are also pulling inspiration from British designs. Traditional spaces tend to feature dark wood furniture. Craftsman and Colonial furnishings have minimal ornamentation, while Victorian-era furniture pieces are a bit more ornate and detailed. Patterned and leather upholstery are both common in traditional style, as are wallpapered walls, slipcovered sofas, and finishing details like wainscoting and crown molding. In terms of color schemes, a blue and white palette is a classic traditional décor look. But for those who lean toward the British; their designs take on traditional, saturated, earthy colors. Brass is the most used metal finish you’ll find in a traditional space, due to its beautiful patina that takes on an antique vibe. Traditional décor is calm, orderly, and predictable. When you think about traditionally styled interiors, think of comforting and classic designs. Your family home growing up might have even been styled in traditional décor furnishings. Traditional homes are generally casual looking, with every piece going together. It’s all about functionality and ease.
Mixing Modern And Traditional Décor
Go Modern in Your Base Furniture
When it comes to traditional and modern décor furniture, modern is easier to have as a base because of its cleaner lines. And, since traditional pieces tend to have a bit more personality, they’re easier to use as accents. Mixing both styles this way, gives a very dynamic look to your space. For example, a traditional pedestal side table next to a modern sofa and coffee table creates balance and focus.
Use Color to Set the Tone
Traditionally styled spaces [especially those that lean toward that adorned British style] feature more warm and saturated color palettes. Meanwhile, modern color palettes are naturally more monochromatic and on the “cool” color spectrum. When mixing these two styles, there are two approaches you can take with color:
Pairing a modern, neutral color scheme with traditional furniture pieces is a way to go. This lets the rich wood tones and ornamentation of traditional furniture do the talking in the space.
However, pairing a warm and saturated color palette with modern-lined, neutral furniture is also a way to blend these styles into one space.
Mix Materials and Finishes
Mixing materials is another great way to blend traditional and modern decor styles together. The use of a chandelier is a more traditional move, but the minimalist style in a black metal finish could add a modern touch. Additionally, the mix of a brass mirror, seagrass bench, and hide rug could add a more eclectic and modern feel to the space, while still using more traditional materials and finishes. Warm, worn leather is a more classic material—but the form of the chair has to be clean lines and tapered legs, to gives it a more modern vibe. Textural fabrics like tweed can happily be used to tie together both styles as well. And think about wood tones as well. While Mid-Century furniture styles don’t tend to feature lighter wood tones, we mentioned that a dark walnut finish is sometimes used in these spaces—and walnut is a common finish in traditional spaces. However, mixing wood tones is a great way to bring in the heart of both décor styles! You can also mix darker woods (more traditional) with shiny metals (a total mid-century modern move) for an interesting material combo.
Pick Harmony Or Contrast
Another important thing to consider is whether you want to create harmony between the two décor styles or contrast. Each has its own benefit. However, balancing both creates a more calming look, while contrast creates visual excitements. By deciding which you want in your space, you can narrow down your décor choices.
Tie items together
You may want to find a way to tie pieces together to create an overall look and feel. While you could use contrast as your guiding light, you have to find a balance between the two styles. A few ways you can tie the two interior design styles together is by using the same color, textures, patterns, upholstery, or shapes.
Use accent pieces
Not everyone has the appetite or budget for creating large-scale drama with a splashy a traditional focal point. If you love traditional decor but feel intimidated by buying antique furniture, start with small furniture pieces such as end tables, accent chairs and wooden stools, or decorative pieces like antique French gilded mirrors, lighting fixtures, and rugs.
Needless to say, there are many more ways you can combine modern and traditional décor designs into one space. And if you need some ideas on how to style you space, Regency Shop has a wide variety of both traditional and modern furniture for you to choose from. Why not get started now?!

Rocking in the egg pod speaker chair!
Our furniture for today is one of a kind. Imagine the comfort of an egg pod chair, with an ottoman, and stereo speakers. That’s wild, right? That’s the vibe the speaker chair gives. You could also call it the ‘speaker egg pod chair with ottoman’, and you won’t be wrong. Enjoy your favorite activities, while listening to your favorite songs; in the speaker chair.
Eero Arnio
The Egg pod chair was designed by Finnish designer- Eero Aarnio. After starting a solo career in the early 1960s, he was still a young designer who aspired to create a furniture piece he would be remembered for. He had always been thrilled by boats and had acquainted himself with a new invention used in the making of ships- fiberglass. He imagined if he could use fiberglass for furniture. Eero knew that the best form for malleable plastic is a curved material. But he also knew well that a closed ball would withstand anything. He found out that the most practical use for this novel material he was working with was to use it to build a hard, protective exterior. The Aarnios also needed a chair at home, which would be large enough for his family, to sit together in. Even though functionality was always his first aim, Eero Aarnio is not an ordinary designer. He had always loved to provoke emotions and cause a stir with his unique designs.
Lee West
The 1970s was an important decade for the egg chair. It was around the same time that the Egg Sound Chair [Alpha Chamber Egg Pod Stereo Chair] was launched. Lee West redesigned the egg pod chair, and it was rechristened the ‘speaker chair’. This egg pod chair was fitted with speakers and an ottoman. And it quickly gained popularity.
Speaker chair vs. Egg pod chair
Let’s talk about the egg pod chair first. It was debuted in 1964, at the World’s Fair in Flushing, New York. Its exterior is made from glossy laminate Fiberglass. And the interior fabric is made from cashmere. The egg pod interior has luxurious cushion padding and a bearing swivel system for ease of turning around. The available colors are: black, blue green, and red. And you could also order a custom color, to you taste. All chairs come with a similar white exterior. Finally, it requires no assembly, or technical skills. There is something special about the Egg Chair that reaches out and makes people smile as soon as they see its famous shape. The sleek design that was cutting edge in the 1960s is still modern but with retro appeal. The chair has devoted followers around the world not just because of its timeless design but thanks to the entertainment experience it represents.
Now, the speaker chair… it’s basically an egg pod chair with an ottoman and music equipment. Whether with just the surround sound speakers or with the optional tactile transducer, the listening experience inside the speaker Chair is unlike any other!
Features of the Speaker Chair
A white fiberglass egg pod styled chair with matching ottoman having stereo speakers to each inside panel, fixed on a round base. The interior is upholstered in the original woven black contract fabric throughout with arm rests. These iconic chairs were owned by T.V stars and used in many movies, TV shows and commercials in the 1970’s-80’s giving that Space Age look and futuristic feel. It was restyled and re-introduced at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show in 2000. The recreated Lee West Alpha Stereo Chair was produced through licensing agreements with Lee West to use their original molds designed in 1968 for the egg pod chair. This second generation stereo chair has the added design feature beyond the original chair of a Clark Synthesis transducer inset into the bottom of the chair. Unlike cheaper sub-woofer inserts – the Clark is a full range audio speaker which adds tremendous depth to the listener’s experience. Lee West Co produced only about a hundred units. You could listen to your favorite CD, watch a movie, or play video games in surround sound like never before. The Speaker Chair comes standard with speakers, which can be connected via speaker wire to your receiver or home entertainment system. If you add a tactile transducer and experience sound vibration and enhanced bass, virtually transforming your speaker chair into a subwoofer. There is also an MP3 package. You could get this, and transform your chair into a high-impact MP3 audio speaker. By simply plugging in your portable device and listen to music the way it was intended to be heard. The chair’s right and left speakers will create the ideal listening dynamic for any audiophile or music lover.
Health Benefits
The unconventional shape and construction of the Speaker Chair make it perfect for both sound isolation and excellent acoustics. Its pod-like shape and upholstered interior cancels out most outside noise, providing a unique environment for meditation, relaxation and just getting away from it all. Not only is it perfect for home use, but this dynamic has also made the Speaker Chair a desirable tool in the field of psychology. The chair is not only an extraordinary listening experience for music and home theater applications but also can be used with harmonic and meditative therapies. The harmonic principals behind this chair are the same used in rehabilitation therapy for astronauts to rebuild muscle loss due to long exposure to weightlessness.
More benefits of using the speaker chair
The speaker chair is an iconic design masterpiece that successfully blends art and comfort. It has a strong base made from injection-molded aluminum. It also has a durable reinforced fiberglass shell. It helps you maintain an ergonomic position; while working, playing, relaxing or sleeping, and listening to your favorite tunes.
Where can you use the speaker chair?
It can applied in different environments, such as office, bedroom, restaurant, living room, etc. The construction was designed to withstand heavy use and is highly durable. All fabrics within our offerings have been rated for flame and stain resistance, and feature high rub counts. Thus, making them ideal for both commercial and home use.
What can you pair with the speaker chair?
Apart from using the custom ottoman, you could also pair the speaker chair with a side table or a floor lamp. One of the amazing things about the speaker chair is that; you can work, play, chill and sleep in it. So, you could also pair it with most indoor and outdoor furniture.
Cleaning and maintaining the speaker chair
There are basically two ways to take care of the speaker chair, like the egg pod chair. Firstly, you could just use your vacuum to remove any dust that has settled on the ball chair’s face. Secondly, you can wash it with water and cleaner. The speaker chair is made from polyurethane and thus it’s veritably easy to clean. You could drop it with warm soapy water; or you could also use non-abrasive dish washing liquid mixed with lukewarm water, if the speaker chair has been exposed to some dirt and needs drawing further completely. Wash off using cold tap water, and allow to drip and dry.

Eero Arnio
The Bubble Chair was created by Eero Aarnio. It’s design dates back to 1968 and that makes it even more surprising and fascinating. According to Eero’s notes, original the Bubble chair was hung from the ceiling because ‘there’s no nice way to make a clear pedestal.’ He is well known for his plastic and fiberglass chairs. Eero Aarnio was born in Helsinki, Finland. He studied at the Institute of Industrial Arts, before he began his own interior/industrial design office in 1962. For his earlier designs, such as his basket chair Jattujakkare; Aarnio used natural materials. His most popular design, the Ball Chair (designed in 1962) which is a hollow sphere made of plastic, with an opening on one side that has a padded interior and a seat. In 1968, Eero Aarnio won the American Industrial Design Award for the Plastil Chair, which is a curved, organic design made of fiberglass, and floats on water. Many of his designs are humorous and interesting. A few are; the Pony Chair and The Tipi [which is a chair made in the shape of a bird]. He combined the Scandinavian tradition of simplicity with innovative use of materials, and created furniture designs that are sculptural yet functional. His designs went on to become iconic in popular culture during the 1960s, and his works are held in several museum collections, such as;

History and inspiration of the hanging bubble chair
As a young boy Eero Aarnio was fascinated with soap bubbles. In the city, he had never made one. But on escaping the war to the countryside, he remembered blowing huge soap bubbles from a barn. The bubbles would take off with the wind and drift far away into the fields. The image of a field filled with transparent soap bubbles stuck with him and never left. After the success of the Ball Chair, Eero carried on designing again with functionalism as his goal. The ball chair seemed to be a perfect hiding place from the outside world; but Eero later discovered that reading in the Ball chair was not ideal. There was not enough light inside this chair. So, he came up with all kinds of ideas on how to let in light inside the Ball Chair… including an experiment with a small window in it. After various efforts, he wondered if the shell could be made of transparent material. At first, he drew the shell to consist of two halves; joined together with a seam. He came to the conclusion that it would probably work, but the look would not be what the he desired. The family had half-round acrylic ceiling windows at their home, and he started to wonder, how are they actually made? Eero Aarnio grabbed the yellow pages and under the occupation listings found a company, which produced ceiling windows. He called them and simply asked how the windows are made, and if his idea could work. Alas, the idea was possible! Acrylic can be heated and blown into shape, just like a soap bubble. He was later faced with another problem. With a shell made of acrylic, how would one fasten the shell to the pedestal? The structures would be too complex to work with, and the aesthetics would be totally different. There was really no nice way to attach the shell to a leg. He then came up with the idea of fixing it to the ceiling. The final sketch was done in 1968. Now, one won’t run out of light reading in the Bubble Chair, it’s flooding with natural light from all directions. When it came to using a chain to suspend the bubble chair, the decision was easy for Eero. A metal chain was by far the strongest in his eyes. Presenting the Bubble to Asko Furniture Company, they were very excited from the beginning. At this time, the Ball Chair had already gained a lot of momentum around the world, and the Bubble received high praise by the public as well.

Le Corbusier
Le Corbusier believed furniture should be “extensions of our limbs and adapted to human functions.” Majorly known as an architect, Le Corbusier was highly influential across many fields as he used his skill in the fields of design, writing and urban planning. He did this to promote the use of modern materials and methods for bettering living conditions in cities. In 1922, Le Corbusier started working with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret, and they continuously sharing projects and ideas all their professional lives. In October 1927, a young architect named Charlotte Perriand was noticed by the two cousins, and a prolific collaboration lasted between the three designers until 1937. Their coming together birthed several amazing furniture pieces, which are still well favored till today.
Le Corbusier lounge chair [LC4]
The LC range of seating, the first results of the collaboration between Le Corbusier and his 2 colleagues, was designed in 1928. Their idea was to design chairs which would be suited for “conversation, relaxing, and sleeping”. Their collaboration went on to include some of the most prolific furniture designs in modern history. The LC4 was inspired by an 18th-centry chaise longue (“long chair”) and has become an icon of Modernist furniture pieces. Charlotte Perriand’s use of tubular steel and sleek black leather was a radical move at the time. Its exposed framework made it look like a piece of industrial equipment. The LC4 lounge chair not only looked good, it was also very comfortable, inspiring Le Corbusier to describe it as a “true relaxing machine”.
Features of the lc4 chair
The base of the LC4 is cast from black enamel steel that has a matte finish and is fixed. The frame, made of chrome-plated tubular steel is bent, put together and balanced on top of the stationary base. A number of elastic straps are spanned and fastened between the tubular steel pipes. This net-like web supports a cut polyurethane foam mattress and a polyester padded bolster headrest, both buckled to the frame and upholstered in black top grain Italian leather. Our replica of the LC4 Chaise Lounge adheres to the original design.
Where can you use the LC4 lounge sofa?
The LC4 lounge sofa in a modern home stands on its own, no matter where you place it. Even in an open plan contemporary living room, the LC4 lounge sofa can make a visual impact unlike any other piece of furniture. There is a certain unassuming boldness about this comfortable seat inspired by the classic French chaise longue. It seems to possess the area it sits in and you could be forgiven for feeling that the chair is a touch too classy for your presence sometimes! Its slim frame along with a leather seat is the perfect combination for any modern interior. You would be pleasantly surprised to know that the LC4 can fit into rooms with a variety of styles easily. The trick is to find one with a canvas or leather fabric that accentuates the color scheme or theme of your space. The LC4 lounge chair in black leather is the most popular choice with one in cow hide seeming much more at home in farmhouse, industrial and rustic spaces. Do not fret too much about the fabric that you choose as the LC4 has a interesting way of fitting in everywhere.
What can you pair with the lounge sofa?
You could pair the LC4 lounge chair most sofas or chairs. It goes well in most sitting areas. As seen in the picture below, you could also pair it with the wassily chair and the egg chair. A side or coffee table could also be introduced. Finally, you could play around with a table lamp or a floor lamp around it. It stands out better, it the midst of other furniture or accessories.
Check out the comfort in the lc4 sofa
From what we hear, sitting in one of these gives you that out-of-this-world feeling. One of the unpopular perks of the LC4 lounge chair is how good the chair is for those suffering from any backaches and in a world where sitting has become the root cause for most health issues, this chaise longue comes as a comforting surprise. It fits into even the smallest of spaces and there are occasions when just the LC4 lounge chair coupled with a minimal side table and floor lamp can turn a forgotten niche into a dashing reading zone that everyone in the family would enjoy. The lc4 is a perfect style icon that is worth every penny you spend on it! The LC4 was designed with comfort in mind. In it, you can sit in an upright or completely reclined position, as well as anywhere in-between, thanks to the innovative design of the frame. It sports a leather cushion headrest which is adjustable and padded with polyurethane foam to support the head, shoulder and neck. The polyurethane mattress extends the length of the chair and is supported by elastic straps which conform to the human physique.
Its durability is top notch
The sweeping lengths of chrome-plated tubular steel, form the seat and gives the LC4 lounge chair its graceful shape. The seat rests on a black steel cradle beneath. As the adjustable seat is made from tubular steel, it is lightweight and allows for easy adjustment or repositioning. The legs and cradle, which remains stationary, are made from hefty black enameled steel. The mattress and head rest is made from high resilience polyurethane foam and it’s upholstered in top grain Italian leather.
How to clean and maintain the lc4 sofa
Leather upholstery:
Once in a while, remove dust from the leather with a damp, lint-free cloth. Small soiled portions can be gently removed with a colorless eraser. Liquid spills should be quickly dabbed dry and wiped off with little water. Once in a year, the leather should be treated with a special leather care product, but never with any type of strong cleaning agent. It’s advised that you only use quality leather products which do not leave any residue. Oily build-up on the leather makes it susceptible to bacteria, which can destroy the leather material. Clean the stitching with a soft brush. Make sure that your leather furniture is not positioned close to any heat sources, so that it does not dry out and become brittle or caked. In addition, we recommend that leather surfaces should not be permanently exposed to intense sunlight. Direct sunlight over an extended time period can diminish the quality of the leather. Leather can be treated occasionally with special conditioners to keep it in its original state. Liquid spills should be blotted out immediately, not wiped. For daily cleaning, dust leather with a soft cloth or feather duster.
Metal parts:
Do not use an abrasive or coarse material on the metal. Clean the chair with a mild detergent and water. Dilute in the mild detergent in water so it is not harsh on the metal. You can dip a soft toothbrush in the solution or a non-abrasive pad and use it to scrub off any residue or dirt on the chair. Dry any residual moisture with a soft, dry cloth or pad.

Le Corbusier
Swiss-born Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, best known by his adopted name Le Corbusier, was a largely influential architect, designer, painter, urban planner and writer whose career was nearly five decades. A trailblazer of progress-minded ultramodern architecture, Le Corbusier sought to put a rational order on the chaos of the world through design. He rejected the lavish architectural garnishment and developed a style that was known as brutalism, creating structures with essential geometric forms that were made of industrial stuff like as steel and reinforced concrete. Le Corbusier believed that pure, well- designed spaces could offer a lesson in how little is demanded to achieve happiness. To convey this notion, the architect prioritized ultramodern, open interiors and emphasized light, rational designs. His architecture and interior designs share a clear idea of space and structural order, highlighting the beauty in harmony, proportion and simplicity.
Original Corbusier sofa [LC2 Sofa and LC3 Sofa]
The LC2 and LC3 were designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier; his cousin and coworker Pierre Jeanneret; and Charlotte Perriand. They are produced by Cassina from 1965 to moment. This original retains its Cassina sticker tag to the lower frame, original Cassina repeat emblem fabric under the seat cushions, Cassina fabric tag to cushions and embossed autographs on the frame. In case you’re upset about buying a fake-this one is autographed in every which way possible. This elegant and sophisticated LC2 lounge by Le Corbusier for Cassina would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Bauhaus, Scandanavian Modern or Danish ultramodern home or penthouse but could also look amazing in a contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Classical or Art Deco room with a bit of pairing with other furniture pieces. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial design such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high- rise office building. Read more here and here!
Features of the Corbusier sofa
Fauteuil Grand Confort (LC3), petit modèle (LC2) Armchair, two-and three-sofa couches and pouf with polished chrome or painted metal frame in the LC color palette. Separate cushions upholstered in fabric or leather. LC2 is an ageless model, which has made design history. Designed in 1928 and displayed at the Salon d’Automne in Paris in 1929, it’s the archetypal armchair in the new and ultramodern concept of furnishings understood as “domestic equipment”, re-issued by Cassina and produced officially since 1965. The separation of the metal frame and the cocoons expresses a rationalist approach to industrial productions. It also has a multi-density composite foam cushion with down wrap and Nickel-plated steel glides.
Where can you use the Corbusier sofa?
The Corbusier sofa is definitely an indoor item. You won’t want to mess with the fine leather and steel frame, by leaving it outdoors to the exposure of the elements. You could place it in your living room, office reception, lounge; and wherever its style would be appreciated.
What can you pair the Corbusier sofa with?
You could add a coffee table to break up the smooth, featureless back of the Corbusier sofa. If your sofa is not isolated in the room, you can place a table between the wall and sofa to add another dimension to the piece. Place accessories of different heights on the wood or glass top to keep the Corbusier sofa from looking too angular against the painted wall. Match the scale of the coffee table to that of the lounge. Look for wood and painted styles in differing tones to help them from blending into one big blob of color at the center of the room. Accessories similar as rugs, plants and lights can help to frame the Corbusier sofa in a graphic way.
Cleaning the Corbusier sofa
Vacuum or wipe any dirt off
First of all, physically remove any dirt or smut from the face of your Corbusier sofa. This will avoid it from being inadvertently rubbed into the sofa when you’re wiping it down with the cleaning agent. A good option then is to use the soft brush attachment on the vacuum cleaner to avoid scrapes. But if you don’t have a vacuum cleaner, a dry microfiber fabric would also do the trick-and is important for Step 3 too!
Prepare a cleaning solution using house products
When it comes to choosing the right cleaner or cleaner for your Corbusier sofa, the main rule of thumb is ‘the gentler, the better’. A few options work well here, and many are household stuff readily available in your toilet or closet! A mild PH- balanced soap (like Dove) is the very smart choice for cleaning leather-either in bar form or by mixing a few drops into some warm water for a very diluted mixture. For a DIY approach, a simple dilution of 50:50 white vinegar and water can do the magic. This is an effective, yet gentle stain remover for many types of upholstery and leather is no exception. Finally, saddle detergents, or soaps specifically made for leather, are an option, but they also run the danger of darkening or hardening the skin of your sofa.
Test it on a small portion of the Corbusier sofa
Whichever option you choose, try using it on a small portion of the Corbusier sofa first- preferably a place that isn’t too visible. Apply a small measure, and let it dry out to guarantee that it looks the way you want it to and there isn’t discoloration.
Clean the Corbusier sofa with a microfiber cloth
Now we get to it! You’ll need two soft microfiber fabrics, one for cleaning the corbusier sofa and one for drying it. First, dip one of the pieces of cloth into the cleaning liquid and squeeze it out-it should be damp, and not dripping wet. However, dampen the cloth and swipe it across the face of the soap, If you ’re using bar soap. Now, working from top to bottom, rub the cloth gently but firmly along its surface, taking care to go into the corners. Continue to rinse the cloth in the cleaning liquid as and when you need it. Once you’re done, use the second cloth, and gently buff the corbusier sofa for a lovely polish. There’s no need to rinse the soap or cleaning agent out, but it’s critical to completely dry the sofa to guarantee there’s no danger of mildew or mold.
Apply a leather conditioner
To keep your leather corbusier sofa in tip-top condition, use leather cream or conditioner to restore moistness and suppleness. This is advised to be used every 6 to 12 months, though it’s also best to check the care tag on your sofa’s upholstery to find the appropriate option.
Deal with stains immediately
It’s always appropriate for stains to be dealt with right away- blot up spilled water, food, oil or essay as soon as you can before it has time to set. Rubbing alcohol can be meticulously used to lift ink stains, and baking soda works well on grease marks.
Polish the metal frames
Dust the metal frame regularly and make sure it’s always dry. Every once in a while, you could also polish it; to restore its shine. Finally, avoid using sharp objects to clean or scratch the frame of the corbusier sofa

Swiss-born Architect and designer, Charles-Édouard Jeanneret; best known by his adopted name Le Corbusier, was a largely influential architect, designer, painter, urban planner and writer whose career was nearly five decades.

The amazing egg pod chair
The Egg pod chair is a unique and functional masterpiece, and should not be mistaken for the ball chair. The egg pod chair is a relaxation spot, a work station and more. Are you shopping for a cozy lounger or sofa, or just reading up on the Egg pod chair? You’ve come to the right place. We have a lot to tell you about the egg pod lounge chair. Keep scrolling…
Eero Aarnio
The egg pod chair was designed by a Finnish designer- Eero Aarnio. After starting a solo career in the beginning of the 1960s, he was still an obscure designer who aspired to create a furniture piece he would be remembered for. He had always been thrilled by boats and had familiarized himself with a new invention used in the shipping industry- fiberglass. He imagined if he could use this material for furniture. Eero knew that the best form for malleable plastic is a curve. But a closed ball would withstand anything. He found the most practical use for this novel material he was working with. The Aarnios also needed a chair at home, which would be large enough for all four of the family [him and his wife Pirkko, and their two daughters], to sit together in. Even though functionality was always his first aim, Eero Aarnio is no ordinary designer. He said to his wife: “I will make a chair that when it is put in a shop window, no one will just walk past it.” He had always loved to provoke emotions and cause a stir with his designs.
The egg pod chair vs ball chair
The egg pod chair is not to be confused with the ball chair [read here]. Though both are creations of Eero Aarnio and share a number of similarities. The differences come in when you look at their respective shapes. The ball chair is a sphere, while the egg pod chair is egg-like [oval] and has more head room and space. The ball chair was created before the egg pod chair. So, the latter draws a number of ideas from it. The exterior of the chair was designed in the shape of an egg shell whose front has been carved out to deliver a nest-like space. It’s like a room in a room – your very own ‘pod‘ – and protects the user from outside interference (mostly noise) while providing a relaxing place to sit down and do your thing. Its privacy is one of its most amazing qualities.
Features of the egg pod chair
Its external shell is made from glossy laminate Fiberglass. The interior fabric is made from cashmere. The egg pod interior has luxurious cushion padding and a bearing swivel system for ease of turning. It comes with a stereo, and amplifier. You could plug in your devices, to enjoy your favorite tunes, from the comfort of your seat. Available colors are: Red, white, orange, green, black, and blue. But we currently have it in black, blue green, and red. You could also order a custom color, to you taste. All chairs come with white exterior. Finally, it requires no assembly. Once you get it home, you are good to go!
What does it feel like to sit in it?
This amazing masterpiece tastefully blends art and science. You are guaranteed to have your privacy while relaxing in the egg pod chair. It has a strong base made from molded aluminum, so you are never going to wonder if the chair would fall off. The interior upholstery is top tier. And the cashmere material holds and relaxes your body gently, as you sit in. You could work from it, watch the TV, read a book, have a conversation, or even sleep. You have all the space and comfort to do whatever you please.
Where can you place it?
The egg pod chair is an indoor chair. And it is perfect for bedrooms or contemporary living spaces. You could keep it in your bedroom, office or shaded patio. It should be kept away from direct sunlight and harsh weather conditions.
What can you pair with it?
You could pair the egg pod chair with an ottoman. There are also a number of tables that would go well with it. When it comes to sofas, you could pair the egg pod chair with the chesterfield sofa, or the marshmallow sofa.
Cleaning and maintaining it
There are principally two ways to take care of ball chair. First, you could just use your vacuum to remove any dust that has settled on the ball chair’s face. Second, you can wash it with water and cleaner. Eero Aarnio ball chair is made from polyurethane and thus it’s veritably easy to clean. Still, drop it with warm soapy water; or you could also use non-abrasive dishwashing liquid mixed with lukewarm water, if the ball chair has been exposed to some dirt and needs drawing further completely. Wash off using cold tap water, and allow to drip dry.
What to consider before you buy one
Nearly 50 years after, the egg pod chair remains an icon of its own. Although its design is readily appreciated, there are a few things you should consider before you buy one:
Size: The size of the Egg Pod chair is not exactly suited for small spaces. So, it’s always recommended to consider the size of your space before you make the final purchase.
Aesthetic: Another thing that you should consider before buying the Egg Pod chair is if it matches your overall home ambience. You cannot put something so futuristic in a classic or vintage theme. So, make sure that your room is capable of highlighting and complementing its character before you buy it.

A lot of contemporary chairs have rotating, swiveling, and tilting functions, which are amazing features. Similarly, egg chairs have stable platforms with hydraulic levers for controlling height. The base of the chair is a flat stand for stability and a swivel for a 360 scope of vision. Poul Henningsen
“Poul Henningsen, known by his initials ‘PH’ was an architect who created lighting series carrying his name. He can be said to have been the world’s first lighting designer and developer in intent at least; though it’s difficult for us today with our modern understanding of architecture as well-versed because he devoted all career investigating how important light really is for well-being.
History of the Poul Henninsgon Artichoke Lamp
When architects Eva and Nils Koppel asked Danish luminary Poul Henningsen to design the lighting for a buzzy restaurant in Copenhagen’s Langelinie waterfront park, he revisited an old radical idea: designing ceiling lights that resembled artichokes. Just three months later, five finished versions were installed at Langelinie Pavilion with 72 copper leaves total; each used one lightbulb.
Features of the Artichoke pendant light
Artichoke lamp are an international design icon. They’re also designed with 72 leaves, making them totally glare-free and providing high quality light from any angle – a process that still proceeds by hand! The original copper finish ensures warmth in spaces lit up by these renowned lights; white painted metal models add even more versatility to your home decor while polished steel & brushed stainless steel offer fresh alternatives for those who want something different. The world’s most popular hanging light just got better, because now you can choose between 4 available finishes. In 2018, Louis Poulsen celebrated the design’s 60th anniversary with an introduction of a beautiful brass edition. When Henningsen originally designed it in 1968 he opted for solid copper leaves and rose-gold interiors that beautifully reflected light from its hidden source – just like how these new lights will reflect your emotions! The Copper Rose Edition features gentle curves made more organic by shaving off pieces here or there so they can gently touch each other without sharp angles; this allows them to capture even less unwanted attention while still maintaining elegant lines overall.

How to restore an old artichoke lamp
Take out the leaf; you first have to take the leaf out of the lamp. To do this, you have to do is pull the wire. You can bend the ends open with pliers.
Remove the kinks; as you have the leaf out, you need to remove the kinks. You shouldn’t pull out the kinks with a hammer! If you hit with a hammer, the material would be damaged.
Rub out the kinks; you could press them out of the copper. Put a piece of strong paper between the hammer and leaf to avoid bruises. Then rub it over the leaf like you would do with an iron. If this works, you can clean the leaf and put it back. Never polish the copper side. The browned copper is a valuable patina that reveals the age of the lamp. If you would remove it, I think it would significantly reduce its value. A collector never would buy a lamp with high gloss!
Cut wire; cut the wire to the right size, but you have to first measure the width of the wire tunnel on the leaf. Take the length of the tunnel and add the double thickness of the rail (the large Artichoke has 3mm rails), plus 2x 5mm. These 5mm are to be bent the ends to 90 degrees, to fix the wire.
Reinstall and finish; you have to bend the wire by 5mm, 90 degrees on one side and push it at the lamp through the rail, then the tunnel and again through the rail. You can now bend the second end over to 90 degrees again.
If perfection and style was a lamp, it would be the Poul Henningsen Artichoke Lamp. We have it for less than $600… affordable, right? You can choose from the 4 options we have available and bring life to your office or home today!

Should you buy the marshmallow sofa?
Marshmallow sofas combine innovation, practicality and distinctiveness to become one of the most sought after pieces of furniture available today. There may be many other designers who have wilder and more imaginative designs, but none in my opinion can match the blend of art, technology and design that flows through the veins of a George Nelson piece. Keep reading as we dissect the Marshmallow sofa by George Nelson.
What are the features of the Marshmallow sofa?
The George Nelson Marshmallow sofa is an icon of mid-century design. It was made between 1955 and 1957 in a limited edition of 18 pieces. The sofa was designed by George Nelson, who was inspired by the lightweight foam used in airplane interiors which led to his creation of a soft, squishy, and puffy piece of furniture. The Marshmallow sofa has become iconic as it has been featured in many popular movies and television series such as Annie Hall, Mad Men, Sex and the City, Friends and Ugly Betty. Marshmallow sofas were made with fiberglass shells that were then covered with foam cushions which were filled with polyurethane foam. The upholstery is made out of cotton fabric which was then stapled to the frame. The Marshmallow sofas are considered to be one of the most iconic furniture designs of all time due to their comfy shape and oversized proportions. The sizes for these couches range from 2 to 6 feet wide depending on how big or small you want your marshmallow to be. The Marshmallow sofas are also known for their light weight since they are made from fiberglass covered with foam which makes them easy to move around if need be. The original marshmallow sofa was designed by George Nelson in 1956, and it is still loved today for its clean, modern look. The cushions are actually made of foam instead of the fluffy marshmallows you might expect to see, but that doesn’t mean that this sofa can’t be a sweet addition to your home.
Where can you place the marshmallow sofa?
As one of the most iconic designs of the 20th century, the George Nelson Marshmallow sofa is a design icon that can be found in almost every inner city loft and mid-century modern home. But where do you use it?
Your bedroom: The compact size and comfy cushions are perfect for falling asleep on after a long day of work.
Your office: The height of the Marshmallow sofa makes it super easy to get in and out of, so you can quickly transition from working hard at your desk to kicking back with a novel (or Netflix binge) without having to stand up again!
Your guest room: If you’re ever lucky enough to have guests over, you never have to worry about them not having somewhere to sit! The Marshmallow sofa is perfect for extra seating when you have people over, though we recommend putting it in your living room by default since you don’t want your guests getting too comfortable…
Your bathroom: If you want to add some extra comfort while you’re lounging around in the tub or shower, this is a great option. Just make sure not to get water on it—it’s not waterproof!
Is the marshmallow sofa comfortable?
There are mixed reactions to whether the marshmallow sofa is comfortable or not? Considering the materials it is made up of, we want to tell you that it is very comfortable. The padding holds your body closely, and would not cause any strain or pain to you.
What can you pair it with?
For a mid-century modern look, pair the Marshmallow Sofa with the following pieces:
The Ball Clock. This is a fun and quirky piece of art that is both functional and unexpected. It will also help to balance out the whimsical shape of the sofa.
The Nelson Swag Leg Desk. This desk features clean lines and an elegant shape that will help add some definition to your room. The pale wood will also complement the tufted white upholstery of the sofa.
The Coconut Chair. This chair is a little bit more playful than the other pieces, and it will help to balance out the seriousness of your desk without looking out-of-place or competing with it for attention.
Overall, try not to overcrowd your space with too many pieces of furniture or too much decoration. You want to keep your room open enough so that people can move around comfortably, but you also want to make sure that your furniture looks intentional rather than haphazardly placed in a room just because you needed something there.
Can it be used outdoors?
The George Nelson Marshmallow Sofa can be used outdoors! However, this will depend on what kind of outdoor space you have. If your space is covered and not exposed to direct sunlight or rain, then you will probably be just fine using your George Nelson Marshmallow Sofa outside. The cushions are made of a special foam that will hold up well in the elements. However, if your outdoor space is exposed to direct sunlight or rain, then you may want to reconsider putting your George Nelson Marshmallow Sofa there. In these conditions, the foam cushioning in the sofa can break down more quickly than it would indoors and over time become squishy and useless.
What are the color and fabric options available?
The George Nelson Marshmallow Sofa comes in a variety of colors and fabrics to suit your needs!
Colors include: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, White and Mixed colors.
Fabric options include: Cotton velvet, faux leather and Italian leather.
What size options are available?
This sofa comes in a variety of different sizes available:
A standard 2-seater measures 31″ W x 25″ D x 29″ H and weighs 45 lbs, making it easy to move around the house. This is the most popular option. And we definitely have this in stock.
If you need something a little bigger, there’s also a 3-seater option that measures 54″ W x 25″ D x 29″ H. It weighs 65 lbs, so you’ll want to make sure you have help moving it into place.
If you want something even larger than that? You’re in luck! There’s a 4-seater model that measures 77″ W x 25″ D x 29″ H.
Cleaning and maintaining the marshmallow sofa
It’s easy to clean and maintain your Marshmallow Sofa! Here are some instructions to help you keep it looking its best. First, remove any dirt or stains by wiping the piece with a soft, dry cloth. It’s fine to use soap if necessary, but make sure that you keep the soap away from the foam in order to avoid any problems. After you’ve finished cleaning, it’s time to fluff up the sofa’s inner core. To do this, simply get a hair dryer and blow hot air into the sofa until it has regained its original shape. Finally, you can use an upholstery tool (or any other small, flat object) to poke out any air bubbles that have formed within the foam since your last cleaning.
Benefits of using the marshmallow sofa
The foam is designed to be as comfy as possible.
The outside is incredibly soft and easy to clean.
The cushions are made of breathable mesh, so they’re very comfortable on hot day.
The foam is durable, but should still be removed from direct sunlight.
The foam molds to your body shape, making you feel like you’re being hugged by your seat

Your home is incomplete without this ball chair
Today, we would be introducing you to another furniture masterpiece; the ball chair. This ball chair has become famous due to its unique spherical design. The ball chair is made of polyurethane and was initially designed in 1963. Since then, the ball chair has been one of the most renowned chair designs. It is not just an attractive piece of design but also a functional addition to many homes and offices due to its ergonomic features and beauty.
What’s the inspiration behind the Ball chair?
The ball chair, also known as the Globe chair or ball arm chair; it was created by a Finnish designer named Eero Aarnio. After starting as a freelancer in the beginning of the 1960s, he was still an unknown designer who dreamt of creating a furniture piece that he would be remembered for. He had always been intrigued by sailing boats and had familiarized himself with a new material called fiberglass. He wondered if he could use this material for furniture. Eero knew that the best form for malleable plastic is curve. But a closed ball would endure almost anything. He found the most practical use for this new material he was working with. Continue reading here!
eero aarnio
What are the features of the ball chair?
The ball chair can rotate 360 degrees, in a swivel-like manner; which is what gives it its ergonomic character. In addition to rotating smoothly, the ball chair also has an adjustable height lever that allows users to adjust the height of the ball chair according to their personal preferences. The comfort of this ball chair stems from its round contours and high backrest for neck support. Eero Aarnio designed ball chair with a ball on top of a metal frame, which is supported by a round base. The ball itself is made from polyurethane and feels very comfortable due to its ergonomic shape. The ball chair is available in many different colors so that it can suit most preferences and interior designs. Since its launch in 1963, ball chair has been a huge success worldwide and is currently being sold by many different retailers. Continue reading here!
A few movies that used the ball chair…
Aarnio’s plan was to create “a room within a room” when he set about its design and if its striking globe-like appearance was enough to make it one of the coolest pieces of furniture around. Till date, the chair has appeared in Dazed and Confused (1993), The Prisoner TV series (1967-1968), Tommy (1975), and Mars Attacks! (1996).
Who needs the ball chair?
People who experience discomfort after long hours spent sitting in hard-backed traditional office chairs with fixed seats & armrests.
People who want to improve their posture at work.
Those looking relieve stress on their lower back & joints.
People with back or joint problems ball chairs are very expensive, which is the reason you need to be choosy when selecting one for your home.
How to use the ball chair?
The ball chair by Eero Aarnio works by allowing you to sit in an ergonomically correct position, putting less strain on your back. It also helps to improve posture when sitting for long periods of time at a desk or in front of the computer. However, no ball chair will help if it is not used correctly! For this reason, make sure you follow these instructions when using ball chairs:
To start with, choose the right size ball. A ball that is too big will have more surface area touching the floor and may result in you tipping over backwards when seated on it; conversely, choosing one which is too small or under-filled may mean that you are forced into an over-extended posture. Think about this: when sitting on a ball chair, your thighs should be parallel with the floor and your back should be straight. Your head, neck and shoulders should be in line with the rest of your spine; if not, you will feel discomfort!
Make sure that ball chairs are used correctly at home, the office or in the classroom by following these instructions:
a) Sit on ball chair so that it is directly under your pelvis Press feet firmly into ground and tilt pelvis forward to flatten ball against pelvic rim.
b) Allow lower back to gently curve inward while bracing abdominal muscles. Hold position for 30 seconds before slowly returning to start position.
c) To decrease intensity always keep ball close to pelvic rim. To increase intensity, move ball further away from pelvis.
d) Relax ball chair once you have achieved the correct position so that your weight is being distributed evenly between ball and floor. Continue reading here!

Where can the ball chair be purchased?
At the time of this post, there are a few retailers that sell ball chairs: Alibaba, Amazon, eBay, Craigslist and also here at Regency Shop.
Where can you place the ball chair?
The ball chair is a great accent piece for your interior and especially suitable as an office chair. The ball chair looks good pretty much everywhere, but we would recommend using it under a window or by a table – then you can enjoy the ball chair from different angles at any time of the day. Eero aarnio ball chair
The Aarnios also needed a chair at home, which would be large enough for all four of the family [him and his wife Pirkko, and their two daughters], to sit together in.
