Leather Chesterfield Sofa Guide
Regency Shop offers four upholstery families. Vegan Leather and Velvet share a price. Full Grain and Italian Top Grain step up. Color is independent of fabric price, and Cognac can be selected in leather looks without a color surcharge.
Vegan Leather
A leather look upholstery option at the entry price band (shared with Velvet). Choose it when you want the Chesterfield visual language with simpler day to day wipe down care than full grain hides.
Velvet
Same price band as Vegan Leather. Velvet softens the silhouette and suits quieter rooms. It needs different care than coated leather look surfaces. See the Maintenance Guide before you commit.
Full Grain Leather
The first true leather step up. Full grain keeps more of the hide’s natural surface character and ages with use. It costs more than Vegan/Velvet and less than Italian Top Grain on our table.
Compared with top-grain, full grain generally preserves more of the original hide surface. Expect more natural variation and a break-in path that softens with use. It is not identical to every “genuine leather” label you see elsewhere — ask for the grade name, not only the word leather.
Italian Top Grain Leather
The highest fabric band in the Regency Shop matrix. Choose it when leather hand feel and finish are the priority. Pair it with Cognac if you want the sofa to match the hero photography most closely.
Top grain is still real leather. The surface is typically refined for a cleaner, more uniform look than many full-grain presentations. Choose it when finish consistency matters more than maximum natural markings; choose full grain when natural character and aging are the priority.
Leather versus velvet Chesterfields
Leather (and leather-look) families read sharper and usually wipe down more easily. Velvet softens the silhouette and changes care — it is not “the same sofa in another color.”
Price can match between Vegan Leather and Velvet on the Regency Shop table, but comfort hand feel and maintenance do not. If the product page shows velvet selected, treat velvet as the active upholstery even when nearby copy explains that leather options also exist.
